Healthy Kids at Home
In Summer 2020, Healthy St. Pete was excited to expand its Healthy Kids program by bringing content and activities to community-based camps and families at home this summer. Each week, camp organizers and parents could log on to the Healthy St. Pete website and social media to learn about the theme and download materials. The themes featured social emotional topics such as friendship, bravery, and confidence. Lesson plans include journaling prompts, physical activities, art and science projects, as well as simple recipes. Community members and camp programmers are encouraged to share feedback and post pictures on social media channels while participating in Healthy Kids at Home programming.
All 10 weeks of social-emotional themed curriculum is available to use and download for schools, families and out-of-school time providers. LEARN MORE Healthy Kids is specifically aimed at giving kids in St. Petersburg the knowledge and tools to live their healthiest and best life. Our team of Community Health Leaders work to reduce the prevalence of childhood obesity and encourage health behaviors in children and families through our St Pete Healthy Kids programs. Once a month, Healthy St. Pete staff members lead elementary-age children in nutrition and fitness lessons at each of the City of St. Petersburg’s 11 recreation centers. Topics include trying new fruits and vegetables, learning about hidden sugar in beverages, and the importance of drinking water.
